The Jimmys, a seven member band from Madison, Wisconsin known to perform a high-energy mix of R&B, blues, and New Orleans funk at festivals and stages across the Midwest.

To celebrate their 16th year anniversary, they wanted to update their merch with new shirts that match their energy and elevate to a more contemporary, gender-neutral visual branding. Together with the band leader Jimmy Voegeli and his partner Renee, we compiled various design drafts and possible versions to best suit the needs of the band and their audience.

With thorough documentation, I recorded their feedback and design progress of drawn sketches and Illustrator files to ensure we stayed on path. In both online and in person meetings, I took note of the visual elements they favored and asked questions along the way. Below are photos that reflect a part of the journey.

Two final designs:
1) Instrument Design: Fully illustrated design featuring the band instruments. Implementing more motion through vibrant red wave patterns and shadows
2) Name Design: A front and back, text-based design with the band name and anniversary phrase
