Glyphs

Project Type

Movie Poster

Date

April 2021

This project follows the prompt: "Use any term within Adobe Photoshop to title a crafted movie poster of your choice genre and design." My strong interest in the fantasy genre led to the title of "Glyphs"--- the function to insert punctuation, symbols, and specialized characters into Photoshop text. Following the idea, I was inspired by Baba Yaga (a witch in Slavic folklore who resided in a portable house atop large chicken legs) and incorporated a house onto the back of an owl.

Excitedly, I challenged myself with learning new techniques to develop my idea. First, feathering helped to create the illusion of a portal using two different images. Second, the clone stamp and warp modified the images to blend well with one another. Third, the effects (bevel and emboss, outer glow, and stroke with inner shadow) created rich texture for the title. With a couple more edits and lamination, the movie poster came to life!
