"How is empathy significant in our understanding of bring human?" This is the question I thought of as I searched for its answer within my artworks. Each art piece that follows gives insight to an emotion, including Dinner with O'Keeffe.

For context, a still-life exemplifies the beauty of the subject. However, what would create discomfort is using unsavory subjects and exemplifying their beauty in that same manner---rotting fruit, skulls and bones, and decaying flowers. With Winsor & Newton gouache paints, I paint this very scene. And just beyond, the distorted shadows, scattered petals, and peeping rabbit wait for the viewer to notice them.
